The first-ever FIFA World Cup final half-time show is officially set to feature three global music giants: Madonna, Shakira, and BTS.
The historic World Cup Final Show will take place on July 19, 2026, at the MetLife Stadium, which FIFA is branding as the New York/New Jersey Stadium for the tournament.
The performance is being produced by Global Citizen in collaboration with Chris Martin, who is curating the entertainment lineup.
FIFA Introduces Super Bowl-Style Entertainment
The 2026 FIFA World Cup marks the first time the tournament will feature a dedicated half-time entertainment spectacle during the final match.
FIFA appears to be adopting a format similar to the Super Bowl halftime show, combining sports and global entertainment into a single mega-event designed to attract massive international audiences.
The tournament itself will be hosted across three countries:
- United States
- Canada
- Mexico
The expanded tournament is expected to become the biggest FIFA World Cup in history in terms of attendance, broadcasting reach and commercial partnerships.
Why Madonna, BTS and Shakira Were Chosen
The lineup reflects FIFA’s strategy of appealing to multiple generations and global fan bases simultaneously.
Madonna
Madonna remains one of the world’s most influential pop icons and recently announced her upcoming album Confessions II, scheduled for release in July 2026.
Shakira
Shakira has long-standing ties to FIFA and World Cup culture. Her previous football anthems became global hits, and she recently recorded the official FIFA World Cup song “Dai Dai” alongside Burna Boy.
BTS
BTS continues to dominate global music markets and recently released their new album Arirang earlier this year, further expanding their worldwide audience.
Global Citizen Education Fund at the Center
The World Cup Final Show will also support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative focused on improving access to quality education and football opportunities for children worldwide.
According to organizers, the performance aims to combine entertainment with social impact by using the World Cup’s enormous audience reach to raise awareness and funding for educational causes.
A Major Commercial and Cultural Moment
The addition of a halftime concert represents a major shift in FIFA’s approach to event entertainment and commercial strategy.
Sports analysts expect the show to:
- increase global TV viewership
- attract younger audiences
- boost sponsorship revenue
- strengthen FIFA’s digital and social media engagement
The World Cup final is already one of the most watched sporting events globally, and the inclusion of globally recognized performers could push audience figures even higher.
Fans are now waiting to see whether additional surprise guest performers will be added before the July event.
