The WPGA Championship has secured a major boost after confirming several of Australia’s leading LET professionals for the March event on the Gold Coast. Organisers revealed that top local and international players will compete at Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club from March 19 to 22. As a result, the championship strengthens its position as one of the premier women’s tournaments on the Australian calendar.
The WPGA Championship forms the fourth and final co-sanctioned event between the WPGA Tour of Australasia and the Ladies European Tour staged in Australia this season. Consequently, the field blends established champions with rising stars, ensuring a competitive showcase for women’s golf.
WPGA Championship Headlined by Su Oh
Defending champion Su Oh leads the early entries, returning to defend her title on the Palms Course at Sanctuary Cove. In addition, fellow LET members Kelsey Bennett, Kirsten Rudgeley, Maddy Hinson-Tolchard, Justice Bosio and Steph Bunque will compete.
International depth also strengthens the WPGA Championship. Lydia Hall of Wales and Malaysia’s Ashley Lau, both previous Vic Open winners on the WPGA Tour of Australasia, have confirmed their participation. Meanwhile, long-time LPGA Tour member Sarah Kemp adds significant experience, boasting 12 WPGA wins and nearly 50 major championship appearances.
Major champion Hannah Green and LPGA star Steph Kyriacou further elevate the tournament’s status. Therefore, the championship promises a high-quality contest across four days.

WPGA Tour of Australasia Chief Executive Officer Karen Lunn highlighted the importance of securing leading LET players. She described the WPGA Championship as a highlight of the first half of the 2026 tour season.
According to Lunn, Sanctuary Cove’s Palms Course offers a world-class setting that allows Australian and international players to showcase their talent. Moreover, she emphasised the opportunity for fans to witness elite competition in a vibrant festival environment.
Lunn noted that the blend of homegrown stars and proven international winners ensures a competitive race for the Karrie Webb Cup. The trophy honours Australia’s most accomplished female professional and carries significant prestige within the women’s game.
Festival of Golf Elevates the Championship Experience
The WPGA Championship forms a key feature of the Gold Coast Festival of Golf. Organisers designed the festival as a high-energy celebration that combines golf with food, fashion and community activities. Importantly, both the championship and festival remain free to attend.
Festival activities will run from 11am to 6pm from Thursday to Saturday, and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday. As a result, spectators can enjoy professional golf alongside entertainment and interactive displays.
Gold Coast Acting Mayor Mark Hammel welcomed the return of the tournament, describing it as a significant addition to the city’s major events calendar. He stated that hosting the standalone championship elevates its standing as Australia’s premier women’s golf tournament.
